Description
This is a first person shooter developed by Russian gaming company. So far the only information I was able to find was at http://rus.instinct-game.ru . Unfortunately for English speaking audience, they do not have English version of the website yet.
Here is my translation of the info I was able to find on this site.
In 2004 on September 9th there was a massive explosion in the mountain regions of North Korea that was registered by Russian and U.S. satellites. This explosion was immediately reported on every major news station in the world.
Three days later the government of North Korea rushed to announce its own explanation for this massive explosion.
This game “Instinct” is based on this story and comes up with its own explanation of the 2004 explosion.
The beginning. Virus.
Back in 1963 soviet scientists find an interesting new virus. Nobody knows where were the origins of this virus, but upon further researching this virus the theory is that it is not from earth. Later on, the code name “Instinct” assigned to this virus and under veil of secrecy, the research continues.
Over the years the research continues slowly but surely. In the beginning the scientists see unlimited possibilities to benefit human kind, and at the same they starting to realize that this virus has a huge potential for a lethal biological weapon. At this point the military gets involved in the “Instinct” project.
In the 80’s the financial and political situation in Soviet Union changed drastically. All these changes threaten the virus research. The only solution would be help from a friendly communist country , so after some hesitation, decision was made to continue research together with the government of North Korea and move the whole project to a secret mountain location in North Korea.
Finally in the early 90’s the research started to pay off with some positive results. Seems like everything working according to the plan.
Conflict.
5th of September 2004 military department of Russian receives news of some kind of lab accident at the “Instinct” location. Shortly after that all contact with the project lost. Also couple of hours later military found out that the whole secret base is under control of terrorists. Russia and Korea realizes that now they have terrorists on their hands controlling the most powerful biological weapon.
Situation gets worse, since Russian and North Korean government do not trust each other and suspect each other for this terrorist take over. Both countries decided to send their Special Forces groups into the area to recover “Instinct”.
8th of September 2004 Russian Spetsnaz squad gets ambushed by unknown forces in the area of “Instinct” base. Treachery is at hand, somebody leaked top secret info to the terrorist forces. After the ambush only three people survive. Now its up to them to complete their mission.
To complete this mission, you have to fight terrorist, North Korean special forces and later on in the game , people infected with virus.
At first glance it looks like another version of Resident Evil. From looking at video posted on this site and pictures, I would say it would be one nice bloody first person shooter. I can't wait for it to be released. According the developer, this game planned to be released in November-December 2006. Hope that happens...
