Finally, after long delay Ubisoft releases Far Cry 2.
Well, finally after a long delay, Far Cry 2 came out this month for PC and consoles.
Imagine my surprise that it wasn’t really a sequel to the original Far Cry. I was almost disappointed when I started playing this game.
I loved the way original Far Cry showed jungles and water. I used to spend hours just crawling the foliage in those jungles and sniping the enemy. Unlike the original game, this time you play through a variety of terrain: desert, savannah and even jungle, yes, jungle. The more I played the more I liked it.
This is a great game, although the gameplay is a little repetitive until you get used to it. You will never be able to kill all of your enemies or clear out the whole are, so all you have to do is to enjoy hunting down enemies and all of those random encounters with AI enemy vehicles and their guard towers.
AI is pretty good, but again it is AI. There are some funny moments when AI enemy have to deal with jammed weapons but again it doesn’t happen very often.
Just like in original Far Cry, you can play it different ways. You can either do it ala Rambo with a big caliber gun, just shooting everybody and everything up. Or you can crawl and sneak around and take all of your enemies with a machete. Your choice…
In the end…it is a good looking game, but it is expected from Far Cry series, but I do not think there is really anything new. Actually, after playing FC2 I got a little nostalgic, so I ended up reinstalling original game and doing some jungle hunting for about 4 hours.
