I know I always talk about gaming, on top of gaming and followed by fps gaming, but this time I decided to change subject a little.
I know it is popular nowadays to use some kind of communication software while you fragging your opponent or trying to accomplish some kind of teamwork based gameplay. Most of new games like Battlefield series already come with team talk capability. Usually I like to use 3rd party software like Skype. I know it is mostly designed to make long distant phone calls but it works perfectly as an IM messenger or a form of team communication.
Lots of my buddies, including myself, tried other different communication software. I know most of you heard of them, like: Teamspeak, RogerWilco, Ventrilo, etc. For some reason we were never satisfied with quality or consistency of our chat sessions during games. As far as built in chat that comes with games, same story there: always sounded like we were calling some third world country with two cans and a string setup.
Either way, if you do not believe me, try Skype, get your buddies to download it and you can have a conference call on it and then just start up your games as usual. Most people I know that tried Skype, no lag, good sound quality, nobody gets disconnected randomly and you don’t have to try talk over some other people that are on the same server.
If you like me, then you also like to have some lone wolf type of games. When I’m playing with complete strangers, I do not use any chat software and usually I listen to some tunes at the same time. Tell you the truth; I stopped burning or buying CDs long time ago. Instead of spending time and searching for music on some pirate network and downloading files that contain no music but a nicely packaged virus, I signed up to a music download service. Laugh all you want, but it works for me, since I have a nice sound system on all of my PCs I usually use them to listen to music, so I do not bother burning CDs anymore. By subscribing, I have freadom of dowloading any music I want without actually buying the whole album. My advice to you, try this unlimited download service. I believe, once you try it you will not want to go back to going through those illegal shady sites searching for your favorite tunes. Since I always get questions from friends and people that just discovered computers, Internet, fps gaming , I thought I would share these little tips with you.
