Arrr ya scurvy dogs!! Pirates, Vikings, and Knights 2 is a blast!! I tried this new HL2 mod the day it came out and what a great start to this game! This has to be one of the most polished betas I have ever seen. Here is a quick overview of the game from the PVKII website:
“ PVKII Is a Halflife 2 Modification based on 3 teams from times past locked in a never-ending battle for wealth, dominance, and power.
Pirates, Vikings & Knights II pits each team against one another in a variety of different scenarios enabling a varied, strategic, and fun gameplay. Each team has its overall strengths and weaknesses, as well as each member within those teams contributing special abilities for the success or failure of each goal.
Cooperation will lead you to victory and glory!
They will battle in territories familiar to them such as Medieval Castles, European Villages, Winter Landscapes, Grassy Plains, Sea Vessels, Catacombs, Sea Ports, and more!”
For now each team only has one class, but that is plenty to have a great time and learn about the game. The pirates are fast and armed with a fun barrel of explosives that you light with your musket pistol. Wait for the fuse to run short, toss it in a room full of people, and BOOM!! A bunch of dead pissed off Vikings and Knights! Each team is fun and has its own advantages depending how you play. There will be more classes added as they go and by the looks of things it will be a well rounded game with lots of different support classes. Teamwork is the way to win in PVKII.
The maps look great and I love how the water looks Far Cryish. I never played the original PVK so I can’t compare but this game is very addictive and fun. Every thing ran smooth and I noticed even the bigger servers that were full ran good. I can’t wait to see more classes added and some of the balance issues sorted out in the upcoming patches. The action is very fast like good ole TFC so I know I will be playing a long time!
