Battlefield 2142…hmm what can we say about it. Well as you might’ve guessed this is another battlefield game from EA. This time it’s happening in the future in the year...that’s right…2142!!

First thing, if you expect completely new graphic engine in this game, then you will be disappointed. The game does look better the last years Battlefield 2 and the sound is awesome, but it’s just a modified BF2 engine.

Like BF2, this game is a little too “thick”. It does take time to load maps, though it’s quicker to do so then BF2. Once in a blue moon, the game might kick you back to the desktop, but so far it only happened to me twice in 2 months and I do play a lot of Battlefield 2142.

After various buggy patches and complaints on Battlefield 2, EA learned its lesson and released a better version of Battlefield. BF 2142 runs lot smoother then BF2 and seems like lot less cheating.

I like that the futuristic weapons are not just some crazy lasers and other junk. These new weapons are based on real weaponry but with extra features and new look. Basically what you would expect in the near future. I love to almost feel a weapon when you fire it and Battlefield 2142 gives you plenty of that. I also love that through the whole game you look at the world through the camera feed, either your helmet feed, or equipment feed. So basically if you get hit with EMP you will get static or temporary all your computer equipment start messing up.

Heavy equipment also is similar to BF2 equipment, but it’s improved and has lots of new features and helicopters are a lot easier to fly. One big addition to the tanks, helicopters and transport are walkers. If you played Mechwarrior, you will love these things; these big machines are like walking tanks capable of hosting a driver and a secondary gunner.

One other big thing with new Battlefield 2142 is its new Titan mod. Titans are almost like carriers/battleships of the future with multiple defensive stations. At this point that’s all I play, its very addictive and for some reason I just can’t stop playing it. In this mod, instead of just capturing flags, you are capturing missile silos and once captured, those silos will start launching missiles at your opposing Titan and destroy its shield. Once Titan shield destroyed, you will be able to assault Titans and try to destroy it from inside by destroying it reactor, so as you can imagine it gets pretty hectic all around it and inside.

In the end, this game looks and runs a lot better then Battlefield 2 but it does feel a little like an expansion pack to BF2. But what I like about this game is that it brings a completely new game play to the table with its Titan mod and almost endless choice of weapons unlocks. It’s a definite must play in the world of FPS.
